How's Fort Sumner Fishing?

Fishing is picking up. Try using curly tail grubs, bottom bouncers and minnow jig combos for walleye. Smallmouth and largemouth bass is good using crank baits, pumpkin colored tubes, worms and minnows. Crappie fishing is slow using minnows. 


Directions from Albuquerque: I-40 East to Santa Rosa. Take exit 277, connecting with US 84 at east end of Santa Rosa. Drive South to junction of NM 203 and US 84. Turn West on NM 203 and go six miles to Sumner Lake. The distance from Santa Rosa to the lake is forty-two miles.
